Why did Qin Shi Huangdi build the Terracotta Army?

He built the Terracotta Army to surround his tomb.  He wanted it to surround his tomb because it protected his tomb.  His tomb was discovered in 1974 by Chinese peasants and can be visited today!

    This guy is nuts! He wants to live forever and then goes and builds an entire army to guard his tomb. This is a very interesting post.
